The questions we get asked before every project
Answered properly, including the ones with awkward answers. If yours is not here, put it in the form and we will answer it directly.
Most builds land between 12,000 and 45,000 CAD, and where a project sits in that range is decided almost entirely by how many systems the site has to talk to rather than by how many pages it has. A brochure site for a clinic sits at the bottom; a storefront with a wholesale portal and tiered pricing sits at the top. We charge separately for the scoping week, and that fee comes off the build price if you go ahead with us.
A straightforward marketing site is five to seven weeks from signed scope to launch. E-commerce and AI assistant work runs eight to twelve. Ongoing search work is measured in months, not weeks, and we will not pretend otherwise: the legal client whose organic enquiries tripled saw the first meaningful movement in month three. The single biggest cause of delay is content, so we build the schedule around when your copy and photography will genuinely be ready.
Yes, against the specification we agree at the end of scoping. That document names the pages, the integrations and, more usefully, everything explicitly out of scope. If we underestimated something that was in it, we absorb the cost. If something genuinely new appears, we quote it as a change before any work starts, never on the final invoice. The two things we will not fix-price are migrating content we have not seen and ongoing search rankings, because neither is inside our control.
Every piece of text, every photograph, every price and every team member on a BLANQ site is editable without a developer, and we spend a full session training whoever will be doing it. This is not an upsell, it is how we build. One of our clients has not filed a single content request since launch because the office manager makes the changes herself in about four minutes.
Both, throughout. That means the interface, the content, the error messages, the alt text and the search markup, not just the visible copy. Bilingual structure is where most Montreal sites quietly lose half their audience: the French pages exist but search engines cannot tell what they are for. We do keyword research natively in both languages, because people do not search in translation.
Often not, and we would rather find that out before you pay for a rebuild. We start by looking at five numbers: where traffic already lands, how mobile converts against desktop, where your main form is abandoned, load time on a real mid-range phone, and the gap between the words people search and the words on your site. Roughly a third of the time those point at a fix that costs a fraction of a redesign, and we will tell you so.
Only if repetitive questions are eating about an hour a day from your team. Below that threshold a well-written FAQ page and an honest response-time promise will serve you better for far less money, and we have talked two clients out of it on exactly those grounds. Where it does pay, it pays clearly: one garage now starts about forty percent of its new work in conversations that happen after closing time.
You do, completely. The code, the content, the domain and every account we set up in your name. We do not hold your domain hostage, we do not use proprietary components that only we can maintain, and if you decide to work with another studio we will hand everything over without a fight. The specification from the scoping phase is deliberately written so another agency could quote from it.
Thirty days of included support for anything that is not behaving as specified. After that most clients move to a monthly retainer covering updates, monitoring, backups and a standing block of change hours, which starts at 450 CAD a month. It is genuinely optional. Several clients launched, took the training, and have run their own site since, which we consider a success rather than a lost account.
Most of our clients are in Montreal and the surrounding region, and that local knowledge matters more than it sounds, particularly for bilingual search and for understanding how seasonal a Quebec business can be. That said, we work remotely across Canada and have delivered projects without ever meeting the client in person. If you are outside the region and the fit is right, distance is not the obstacle.
